Stand and Be Counted Award

2007

Do you know someone who is always pitching in to help build a stronger community but never expects any recognition for it?  If so, perhaps he or she would be a good candidate for the Pentucket People’s Foundation’s Seventh Annual Stand and Be Counted Award.

The award honors courage, leadership, and persistence in unheralded but vital work for the betterment of people in the community.  The recipient exemplifies the noblest aspects of volunteerism and engages in activities not for want of money or recognition, but for achievement or realization of a greater social good.

To nominate someone for the award, please submit the person’s name, the reason for nomination, and your contact information (name, telephone number, and email).  Mail nominations to Pentucket People’s Foundation, P.O. Box 548, Haverhill, MA, 01831, or email them to info@pentucketpeoplesfoundation.org.

The Stand and Be Counted Award is inspired by a book of the same title, authored by rock musician and social activist David Crosby.  Previous award recipients are Lynn Murphy, chair of the Haverhill Cultural Council (2006), Amesbury resident Bruce McBrien (2005), Barbara Thomas, food pantry co-ordinator at the Pettengill House in Salisbury (2004), Rosemary Werner, director of Our Neighbor's Table food pantry in Amesbury (2003), Rebecca Gould, co-founder of the Pentucket Community Service Team at Pentucket Regional middle and high schools (2002), and Kristine Malpica, executive director of Imagine Studios in Amesbury (2001).  The Pentucket People’s Foundation is an all-volunteer charitable organization that makes contributions to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, education, and the area of social exchange and healing in the Lower Merrimack Valley.
